Presentation to Swansea Students

Yesterday morning, Friday April 27th, I did a presentation of the whole school.  I am always amazed at how nervous I get about these things.  Being a teacher, I do public speaking for a living...but standing in front of 650 students, with an age range of 6 to 13, was a bit daunting.  Judging by their attentiveness during the presentation, I think it went well.  I posted the powerpoint online, but all of the cool effects were lost.  If you would like to view it anyway, here is the URL

Best question I fielded after the presentation:  Are you going to miss us while you're gone?  'Cause I'm gonna miss you.

Bright Futures of Burkina

The organization I am working with is "Bright Futures of Burkina".  It was founded earlier this year by my good friend Tammy Chen.  I am so proud of her accomplishment and I am thrilled to be going to Burkina and working with her this July.    The organization sponsors students to go to "L'ecole les Amis du Monde" (School of the Friends of the World) and it also provides micro-loans for the entrepreneurial efforts of mothers of the students.  Please check out her website:  brightfuturesofburkina.org
